Helpful Landscape Photography Tips

Like any type of photos, landscape photos can look fabulous if taken with a few things in mind. If you want your landscape photos to look like postcards, you’ll get a lot of benefit out of reading the following landscape photography tips ..

Pick a Focal Point

If you’re taking a photo of a sunset, the sun will probably be your focal point. Most people attempt to get that focal point in the centre. The focal point doesn’t have to always be in the centre, though. Experiment with composition and varied framing and foregrounds to help you take interesting pictures.

Consider the Sky

Landscape Photography Tips

If the sky is part of the striking beauty of the landscape shot, it should be a predominant part of the photo. But if there isn’t anything particularly striking about the sky and you would rather focus more on the focal point, foreground, or the background, don’t let the sky take up half of the photo.

Adjust your vantage point so that the photo has more of the landscape than the sky scape. On the contrary, if the sky is as beautiful or interesting looking as the other subjects your landscape photo, a good tip is to make it about a third of the photo.

Time of Day

If you’re taking landscape photos of a particularly beautiful view, consider taking shots at different times of day. Taking a sunset shot, a sunrise snapshot, a photo in the middle of the afternoon, at dusk, and again later in the evening might all provide some very interesting shots.

Seasons

If at your home you’ve got a view to brag about, great landscape photography tips could include taking photos of that view at every season. This could make for lovely enlarged prints for a room in your home.
